¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Mexico Secures Critical REPSE Certification To Assist Members’ Field Service Projects

Mexico’s REPSE certification for the outsourcing and subcontracting of third-party service rendered in country affects ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ members' Mexican subsidiaries and customers. We are excited to announce that ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Mexico has secured this critical certification.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ members with business south of the Rio Grande may be familiar with Mexico’s recent reforms to the country’s outsourcing and subcontracting laws. These laws affect third-party service rendered in country, i.e. the outsourcing of services. Fortunately, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Mexico has secured the REPSE certification, preventing any disruptions to our members’ business.

Mexico’s reform initiative requires external providers to secure a certification called REPSE in order to receive approval from the end customer to perform an array of services at a Mexican factory or plant. Some ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ members may be familiar with the issue, as their subsidiaries in Mexico or their customers running Mexican operations may have discussed the REPSE issue with them. Any company rendering services at a facility is liable, as is the facility, if they are not able to present the REPSE registration number to labor auditors during random or planned audits.

After several months of work and filings with the Mexican Labor Department, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ can announce that we have secured this important and necessary registration late in February. The benefits to ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ member companies engaging our services in Mexico include:

  • Honors the new regulation issued by the Mexican federal government via the Labor Department.

  • Removes the potential for service-related invoices to be considered non-deductible expenses by the Mexican IRS.

  • Removes the potential for a fine to your company as well as your end customer, a situation that would have reduced your leverage with your customer.

  • Prevents any restrictions to plant access or to competing for a project due to the lack of the REPSE certification, which is now critical to any plant.

  • Avoids any obstacles to securing access to facilities in Mexico, as many security departments, which are outsourced services in general, are now demanding proof of REPSE certification to allow access to the manufacturing shop floor.

Mexico continues to benefit from the implementation of the USMCA, the nearshoring effect, and the reorganization of supply chains, so the multiplication of requests for projects will continue, and the removal of obstacles like the REPSE certification is one of the missions of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ´s service department.

Since 2007, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Mexico’s staff has been involved in more than 75 U.S. companies’ field service support projects, and our senior service staff has devoted more than 4,000 service days to helping those companies solidify their position in Mexico. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Mexico has even introduced another dimension to strengthen our members’ service-value propositions to their new and old customer base in Mexico, incorporating after-warranty support and spare part availability through ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ´s warehousing operation. This is designed to minimize members’ investments while allowing for the claiming of another dimension of service: spare part availability in country.

Our personnel is well-prepped in OSHA and Mexican regulations related to safety, allowing your project design groups to worry about actual design and system performance rather than local nuances like power, foundation, domestic partners for hired services, and the sorts.
