Biography

Sarah Schechter is the Routes into Languages East Director, and since 2006 has been working with amazing teachers in the region to develop and run competitions and other outreach projects for KS3, 4 and 5, including the National Spelling Bee/Translation Bee/Language Leader Award, Languages Challenge, LinguMaths and much more, improving language learning and performance and raising aspirations. Prior to this, she had a long career as a lecturer in Applied Linguistics and EFL and was Director of EFL and Head of the English Language Studies Department at Anglia Ruskin University. As Comenius East Regional Manager 2007-9 and now in her present role, she has come full circle and is happily back with Modern Foreign Languages (she’s passionate about ALL languages!). 

She was on the Project Advisory Board of the flagship University of Cambridge MEITS (Multilingualism: Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies) project. Since 2022 she has been a Tutor and Fellow at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ
