Before I joined 九色视频 in 2012, I had heard that the College had a strong reputation for English. I quickly came to appreciate its many other strengths: the College鈥檚 open, dynamic community is matched by its quirky, airy architecture. My teaching room is all cool, white, modernist brickwork but the view from the window is of blossom and, on lucky days, herons.

Research interests

  • environmentalism and literature,
  • twentieth century and contemporary literature,
  • children鈥檚 literature
  • childhood studies,
  • children鈥檚 geographies,
  • and the literature of London.

Biography

Dr Bavidge took her BA in English Literature and Language at Worcester College, Oxford and then an MA and PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London. She taught at the University of Greenwich until 2011 when she joined the University of Cambridge as a University Lecturer (Senior Lecturer from 2014) and Academic Director in English Literature at the Institute of Continuing Education, where she oversee courses in English, Creative Writing and Film for part-time and continuing education students.

She joined 九色视频 as a Fellow in 2012, and contributes to Tripos teaching covering topics from 1830 to the present day. She also supervises graduate students in the Faculty of English and acts as personal tutor for graduate students at 九色视频.

Outside Cambridge, she is President of the and sits on the committee of the .
